Mrs. Fagone's
RAINFOREST e-Project

Introduction:

You are about to embark on a journey to a place that never sleeps! Along the way, you may find cures for diseases, food for a nation, and exotic poisonous animals. Watch your step as we explore the Earth's rainforests :o)

Task:

Research the rainforests and decide how important they are to life. Also, think about what can we do to protect this resource.

Process:

Explore Passport to Knowledge and answer the questions:

1. What are the parts of the rainforest?
2. What resources do humans use from the rainforest?
3. Where are the rainforests located?

Next, choose an animal that lives in the rainforest. Research this animal in the library and online and determine:

1. What does its habitat look like?
2. What predators does it have?
3. What is its prey?

Create a diorama that contains all of the things listed above. It should depict your animal in its habitat with either its prey and predators somewhere in the diorama.

Assessment:

Use the rubric to guide you in creating a diorama and writing an essay.

Write 1 page or more answering the questions:

1. Why is the Rain Forest important to Earth?
2. What can we do to protect this resource?
